Do I need an architect?
Whether you need an architect to help renovate your home depends on the project that you are planning; the potential difficulties and often the period style of the property. Give us a call to discuss your project further.
What is included in a renovation?
In a renovation, a kitchen remains a kitchen and a bedroom remains a bedroom, but repairs and updates are made. This generally includes such things as painting, installing new flooring, and switching out items like cabinet knobs and faucets. Renovation also includes structural rebuilding.
Do I need a Project Manager?
You don’t need a Project Manager for property renovations, but they can be helpful at securing cost effective quotes, managing the renovation project (staff, materials etc) and that any problems are sorted quickly and practically.
Can I do the work myself?
This depends on your experience and on what you are legally allowed/not allowed to do. If you are good at measuring, have an eye for a straight line and are good at reading instructions, then some renovation projects may be within your skill level. However, jobs such as gas, electrics and glazing legally require qualified tradesmen, so you should bring in the professionals. Some other jobs such as plastering take time to perfect, so may be better done by a professional too.
